CAF’s Chicago Architecture 101 is back by popular demand! Take an exciting journey through the city's architectural history with Tim Wittman, one of Chicago’s leading architectural historians. This course traces the development of Chicago’s unique architectural legacy, addressing key issues that influenced buildings in each major period, from the early skyscraper to modernism. No prior background in architecture is necessary, just bring your interest and enthusiasm.
PRICE: Adults- $35 per session, Members- $30 per session

The new - Solomon Cordwell Buenz designed - Institute of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola is a beacon of sustainable building in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. CAF's Behind the Scenes tour, led by the project team, includes visits to the Clean Energy Lab, Greenhouse, Geothermal System and San Francisco Hall.

Join us as we explore Chicago's educational treasures featuring Carl Schurz High School designed by Dwight H. Perkins. Noted by the American Institute of Architects as one of the "150 great places in Illinois," we will tour the Gustav Brand murals in the library as well as the sweeping exterior and landscaped grounds. Historic meets contemporary as we visit both the Ruben Salazar Bilingual Center (1882) and Walter Payton College Preparatory High School (2000). The last stop is the interior and exterior of NEIU's El Centro building, completed in 2014, whose blue and yellow fins are visible from the Kennedy Expressway.

MEET: The east entrance to Trump Tower. You will find this entrance by approaching Trump Tower from Michigan Avenue, and proceeding west through the plaza between the two parts of the Wrigley Building.

Originally named the Sears Tower, Willis Tower was the world's tallest building when completed in 1974. Learn how architects met the challenges of designing a super-tall building and compare Willis Tower, a testament to Modernism, with 311 S. Wacker Drive, an exploration in Post-Modern design. Your ticket includes interior tours of both buildings.
